The piece I chose to create was one of my favorite past times, circus music. You know when you go to a circus, the music is happy and upbeat. That’s what I had gone for with my piece. It would be a great circus or maybe a cartoon or game.
So for this piece, I went with a thick heat kick drum. For the snares, I used the drum synth kit. For the hi-hats, I used a closed synthetic bass house. When it came to the sampler track, I used the almost harpsichord. The structure was one with a bubbly fun arrangement. As for what I was looking to come out of this arrangement, was to have an arrangement that was good enough for a circus or video game.
For this arrangement, I used a 4/4 signature and used the key of C. For the melody, I used the bright synth brass. For the harmony, I used the bright synth strings. I chose these because they really flow together well. For my melody, I used the notes C3/E3/G3/D3/A2/G2. For the harmony, I used chords C/G/E/B/F/A.
For the microphone recording, I used 2 pill containers in a round gummy container. It gave a sound of a maraca. The arrangement was done with the vision of something fun. The sampler track I used was the almost harpsichord. Track 8 is the sampler track. Track 7 is the microphone recording. Track 6 is the melody. Track 5 is the harmony. Track 4 is the harmony. Track 3 is the hi-hats. Track 2 is the snare and track 1 is the kick drum. It has a tempo of 160.
The two dynamic processes I used are the compressor and chroma. I used compression on tracks 2,3, and 6. I used chroma on track 7. The two time-based processors I used were the delay and the channel EQ. I used a delay on tracks 3,5 and 6. The channel EQ I used on tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.
